Here is the procedure to create a company backup file;

  • Open QuickBooks.
  • Go to File > Back Up Company > Create Local Backup.

Solution 1: Suppress QuickBooks Desktop

It is possible that you won’t be able to open or log in to QuickBooks Desktop. To update the software, turn off QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Double-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon while holding down the Ctrl+Shift keys on the keyboard.
  • Wait until QuickBooks is open on your computer before releasing the Ctrl+Shift keys. It will open a window that says “No Company Open.”

Solution 2: Update QuickBooks Desktop

Sometimes, QuickBooks needs the new update to work in a better way. So make sure that the QuickBooks Desktop is in the latest version. If not, then update QuickBooks Desktop by following the below procedure;

  • Go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Then click on Update Now to the top right corner.
  •  Make a check on Reset Update then click Get Updates.
  • Once Update is complete, close QuickBooks.

Solution 3: Download and Run Quick Fix My Program

You can also run the ‘Quick Fix My Program’ to troubleshoot the issue;

  • Download and Install QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  • After the program has been installed completely, go to the Program Problems tab and select the Quick Fix my Program option.
  • It may take some time to complete the task.
  • Reopen QuickBooks Desktop once it is finished.

Solution 4: Repair QuickBooks Desktop

Follow the procedure to repair the QuickBooks Desktop;

  • To open the Run command Type Control, press the Windows+R keys together and click on the ‘OK’ option.
  • Choose ‘Program > Features and Programs.
  • Select QuickBooks Desktop from the drop-down menu and click Uninstall. If prompted, select Yes.
  • Next should be selected.
  • Select Repair and then click Next.
  • Select Repair.
  • If a Files in Use window appears, select Automatically close and restart applications and click OK.
  • Repairing QuickBooks may take some time.
  • When the repair process is finished, click Finish.

Solution 5: Download and Run QuickBooks File Doctor

  • After that, click Next, and then Install. When the installation is finished, click Finish.
  • Open QuickBooks Tool Hub now.
  • Run QuickBooks File Doctor from the Company File Issues tab.
  • Select the company file by clicking Browse.
  • Select Examine your network and file systems.
  • Continue by pressing the Enter key.
  • Click Next after entering the QuickBooks Admin password.

Now the scan begins; depending on the size of the company’s files, this may take some time. Your problem will be resolved once the scan is completed. If not, please continue with the steps below.

Solution 6: Copy the Company Files to Desktop

Begin with copying your company files to Desktop;

  • Go to New > Folder by right-clicking on the desktop screen.
  • Now go to the current location of your company’s files.
  • Copy (Ctrl+C) the company file by right-clicking on it.
  • Then, right-click in your New Folder and select Paste (Ctrl+V).
  • Now press and hold the Ctrl key, making sure not to let go until the screen shows No Company Open Window.
  • Select Open or Restore an Existing Company from the drop-down menu.
  • Select click Next after opening a company file.
  • Go to the desktop file you copied to a new folder and open it.

Solution 7: Run QuickBooks Database Server Manager

Run the QuickBooks database server manager, by following the below procedure;

  • Press CTRL+J to go to your downloads after downloading QuickBooks Tools Hub.
  • Click QuickBooksToolsHub.exe from your downloads list.
  • To allow this app to make changes, select Yes.
  • Now click Next to install it, and then Yes to accept the license agreement once more.
  • After that, click Next, and then Install.
  • When the installation is finished, click Finish.
  • Open QuickBooks Tool Hub now. 
  • Select QuickBooks Database Server Manager from the Network Issues tab.

Solution 8: Update Windows
