So all QuickBooks users can use this release version to work in Windows 10 without having any upgrade issues. If now you are using the QuickBooks version, which is earlier than the R7 version then it is necessary to update QuickBooks to the latest release version.    

QuickBooks 2016 (R1 – R6) Windows 10 Compatibility

If we will talk about the earlier version of QuickBooks R7 (R1-R6) then, Windows 10 is also supported for all these releases. But here, you need to ensure that the .NET framework 3.5 is turned on. If it is not turned on then turn it on, and run these QuickBooks release versions in Windows 10. And if you have any issue with the framework then fix the .Netframework issue immediately then go for other processes.

Steps to Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 

Follow the procedure to ensure that the version you are using, is compatible with Windows 10 or not:   

  • Press, and hold the ‘Windows + R’ keys simultaneously from the keyboard to launch the ‘Run’ window. 
  • Type for ‘Control Panel’ in the type bar, and click on the ‘OK’ option.
  • Choose the ‘Uninstall a Program‘ option, and then the Turn Windows Features On or Off option.  
  • After that, make sure, both .NET frameworks 3.5 and 4.5 are turned on or checked.
  • If both .Net frameworks are enabled then click on the ‘Cancel’ option. And if they are disabled then checkmark them or select them, and then click the ‘Ok’ option.     

QuickBooks Desktop 2015 Windows 10 Compatibility

QuickBooks 2015 release version also acts the same as the QuickBooks 2016 earlier versions. Windows 10 allows this QuickBooks version to run properly. But here you also need to enable the .NET Framework by following the above process for a hassle-free running process.   

QuickBooks Desktop 2014 and Earlier

QuickBooks 2014 or earlier version is not supported in Windows 10. You have to update your QuickBooks if you are using QuickBooks 2014 and earlier.

After January 14, 2020, Microsoft discontinues providing updates or support for PCs running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008.

Windows 10, 1709 (Release Version)

In Windows 10, 1709 release version, you can use the QuickBooks Desktop 2017, 2018, and 2019 release versions.  

Windows 10, 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703 (Release Version)

When you are using the Home or Pro version of Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703, then it recommends you to first update the latest release of Windows 10 because now Microsoft discontinued support for Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703.
