Upcoming changes – QuickBooks Desktop 2022 product subscriptions
First of all, Intuit is making a big change by transitioning to a subscription model for their Desktop lineup with the 2022 release. They are also introducing QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus subscription along with improving support for ProAdvisors.
Earlier, QuickBooks Desktop for Windows – Pro & Premier products were available as one-time purchase licenses. But now they are switching to the subscription model. By renewing your subscription, the user will always have access to the latest upgraded version, security patches, most up-to-date features, and more.
For Mac users, they are offering the new QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus – which is an annual subscription-based license for small businesses. This will come with several added premium features.
The ProAdvisor Premier bundle will be available for $499 whereas the ProAdvisor Enterprise bundle will be available for $849 that includes QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus subscription.
Expected Product release date
For QuickBooks ProAdvisor the new QuickBooks Accountant Desktop Plus, Desktop Enterprise Accountant, and Desktop Mac Plus subscriptions, the product release is expected to happen on September 28, 2021. They can access it by logging into their ProAdvisor membership portal.
For everyone else, the 2022 subscription version is scheduled to release on October 12, 2021.
However, the 2021 version of Desktop Pro, Premier, and Mac 2021 one-time purchase licenses will be available for some limited time. Until December 10, 2021, they will be able to purchase these one-time purchase licenses through QuickBooks Solutions Providers (QSPs) and Intuit sales agents.
Support for all non-subscription versions of QuickBooks Desktop will remain unchanged:
- 2021 will be supported through May 2024
- 2020 will be supported through May 2023
- 2019 will be supported through May 2022
