The most important process to print an accurate cheque in QuickBooks Online is to align the printer settings properly. Now let us have a look at the steps to set up a proper alignment for printing an accurate cheque in QuickBooks online.

1st Step:

  1. First of all you have to insert some blank pages in your printer to test the cheque alignment by printing some sample cheques on blank pages.
  2. Then you have to click on “+New”.
  3. Then you have to click on “Print checks” and then click on “Print setup”.
  4. Then you have to choose your cheque type and either click on “ Voucher” or “Standard”.
  5. Then you have to click on “View preview and print sample” and then click on “Print”.
  6. Now you have to follow the onscreen steps and successfully print your sample cheque on a blank page.
  7. Now you have to put your sample cheque on a blank cheque and compare them to see if the alignment of the sample cheque matches with the alignment of the blank cheque.
  8. If the alignment of the sample cheque matches with the blank cheque then you are ready to print your regular cheques. If it doesn’t match then move on to the next step.

2nd Step:

  1.  First of all you have to download and install Adobe Reader on your computer.
  2. Now open QuickBooks online and then click on  “+New”.
  3. Then you have to click on “Print checks” and then click on “Print setup”.
  4. Then you have to click on “No, continue setup”.
  5. Then you have to set Adobe Reader as your default PDF viewer.

  7. Now you have to follow the onscreen steps and successfully print your sample cheque on a blank page.
  8. Now you have to put your sample cheque on a blank cheque and compare them to see if the alignment of the sample cheque matches with the alignment of the blank cheque.
  9. If the alignment of the sample cheque matches with the blank cheque then you are ready to print your regular cheques. If it doesn’t match then move on to the next step.

3rd Step:

  1.  As both the above mentioned steps didn’t align your cheques successfully, now you have to fine tune your cheque alignment.
  2. Now open QuickBooks online and then click on  “+New”.
  3. Then you have to click on “Print checks” and then click on “Print setup”.
  4. Then you have to click on “No, continue setup” for two times and then the cheque will open in an alignment window where you can easily modify the margins of your cheque to match it with the sample cheque and give a proper alignment to the cheque.
  5. Now in the cheque image window, you have to drag the grid so that the numbers remain in the same place they appear on the sample print of the cheque. Thus the alignment of the cheque will be automatically adjusted by QuickBooks online.
  6. The numbers that appear in the vertical and horizontal field of the sample cheque are adjustable and this will help QuickBooks to know where to print the amount of the cheque.
  7. Now after successfully adjusting the grid, you have to click on “View preview and print sample”.
  8. Then you have to click on “Print”.
  9. Now you have to follow the onscreen steps and successfully print your sample cheque on a blank page.
  10. Now you have to put your sample cheque on a blank cheque and compare them to see if the alignment of the sample cheque matches with the alignment of the blank cheque.
  11. If the alignment of the sample cheque doesn’t match with the blank cheque then you should repeat the grid adjustment step again and again until you get an accurate alignment of your cheque.
  12. Then you have to click on “Finish Setup”.

4th Step:

  1. If still the alignment of your cheque is not accurate then you have to configure your printer dialog box and adjust the scale in it.
  2. When you click on the print option in QuickBooks online, it simply opens the default print dialog box.
  3. You have to adjust the size of the pages and also adjust the scales. The process of adjusting the sizes and scales of pages vary for different print experiences.
