If you see “The company file you selected could not be found”. Follow these steps:

  • Select the ‘Open or Restore Company’ option from the ‘File menu to view this file in another directory or you can also directly go to the Windows ‘Start Menu’ and search for your company file on your computer.

Don’t worry, this is usually because your company’s file has been renamed or renamed. This can also happen if your computer is disconnected from the path where the QuickBooks file is located or if your QuickBooks file has been removed from your computer. If you want to access your QuickBooks file on the network

Solution 1. Ping server to assure that you are connected to the internet

  • First, recognize the name of your server computer.
  • Open run box by pressing Windows keys+R on the keyboard.
  • Insert CMD in the run box then select OK.
  • Now the black window is opened on your screen, type ipconfig /all and hit Enter.
  • Now look for your Host Name (server name) and note it down.
  • Now again in the cmd window, ping [name of your server] and hit Enter.
  • Here, You will see a reply to each packet.

  • How to open a (.qbw) file or (.qba) file
    • Choose Open or Restore Company from the File menu.
    • Choose Open a Company File and choose Next.
    • Choose the company file.
    • Click on Open.
  • How to Restore a Backup (.qbb)
    • Select Open or Restore Company under the File menu option.
    • Look for Restore a Backup File, then click on Next.
    • Choose Local backup.
    • Choose the company file and click on Next.
    • Select the location where you want to save your restored file (where you are comfortable to work with the file) and then choose Save.
  • How to Restore an Accountant’s Copy Transfer file (.qbx)
    • Choose Open or Restore a company from the File menu
    • Choose to Convert an Accountant’s Copy Transfer File and click on Next.
    • If What the Accountant’s Copy Can and Can’t Do window is displayed, choose Next.
    • Choose the transfer file (.qbx) and click on Open.
    • Select the location where you want to save your restored file and click on Save.
