What is a company file is missing or can not be found in QuickBooks?

Missing from the helper list of Most Recently Opened Or, gone from the computer entirely.

Example:

The Most Recently Opened list seen on the No Company Open screen can be set to show 1 or 4 or 20 company files helper tool to open them from here.

Your computer can hold a Gazillion-billion company data files. You would have to open them from the .qbw file, though.

Do you use Word? Word is a Program you use to work on .docx files. You can double-click the .docx file, and your Windows System knows that requires Word, and launches Word.

So, have you searched the computer and know the .qbw really got deleted?

And this is a hard way to learn to make a QB Backup at the end of every work session, put it on a USB or somewhere safe and also set QB to “rotate” = keep only a few, such as  or 5 or so, for each data file. What if that computer didn’t even turn on tomorrow? Backup be Safe.

  • Select the appropriate radio button for the type of file that you are trying to open.
  • Browse the location of the file.
  • Select the file and click Open.
Note: You will be prompted to select the location where you want to restore the file if you are opening a .QBX, .QBB or .QBM file.

Solution 2: Prevent QuickBooks windows from automatically opening

  • On the No Company Open window, select the company file.
  • Press and hold the ALT key and click Open.

Note: If QuickBooks displays a log in window, sort within the parole, press and hold the ALT key and click OK. don’t forsaking of the ALT key till the corporate file opens totally or miscalculation message is displayed.
If you are able to open the company file without error, follow the steps bellow.
