The QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Support file into a QuickBooks Desktop for Windows file to complete an import to QB Online. This is known as round tripping. Round tripping is a term used for the process of sending a QuickBooks for Mac file to an accountant with QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. Due to the difference in the type of database that each program uses, there is not an Accountant’s Copy feature available in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. As a result, round tripping is sometimes necessary in order for an accountant to make changes to a Mac client’s company file.

Starting in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, follow this basic flow:
1:-Client saves a Back Up to QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
2:-Backup file is transferred to the accountant, preferably using a secure transfer method.
3:-Makes changes as needed and uses Copy Company File for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, which is then transferred back to the client.
4:-The client restores the back up into QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
Here are simple step by step instructions on how to make the conversion:
1:-In QuickBooks for Mac, open the company file that you would like to convert to a Windows file.
2:-Choose File > Back Up to QuickBooks for Windows.
3:- Choose the name of the file you want to convert and click Save.
4:- On the Enter Password window, enter a password for the file. Or, if you do not want to password protect the file, just leave the fields blank.
5:- Click OK. QuickBooks will then create a .qbb file. You can then click “Show File in Finder” to locate the file on your Mac.
6:- Send both the .qbb file and the Instruction PDF file to the Windows user using Mobile-Me, CD, or USB drive or some other media.
